Ask A Scientist-

Question: I have always wondered how come you can't split an atom?
Mary, grade 5

Answer:
Well, you CAN split an atom, but NOT by ORDINARY means. That is,
you can't do it with a knife or a grinder. You can't do it with chemistry
either. You have to hit it with a high energy particle of some sort
and after you have done so what you have left is no longer an atom
of the material you started out with.
For your purposes you should remember that -
you can't split an atom by ORDINARY means.

Hope this is helpful.

Beautiful flame. The depth is incredible and the inner glow brightens the entire image in a warm and friendly manner. It has just a touch of repeatability to it which builds on the theme nicely. Lets hope that atoms look this pretty when they get shattered. :)
